Tonsillitis হলো টনসিলের Inflammation বা প্রদাহ। টনসিল হলো আমাদের গলার দুপাশে অবস্থিত ছোট্ট দুটি lymphatic tissue, যা আমাদের শরীরের immune system-এর একটি গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অংশ। যখন এই টিস্যুগুলোতে viral বা bacterial infection হয়, তখনই তা tonsillitis এ পরিণত হয়।
Causes:
Tonsillitis সাধারণত দুইভাবে হতে পারে:
Viral infection: যেমন cold বা flu এর জন্য।
Bacterial infection: সবচেয়ে common হলো Group A Streptococcus bacteria.
Symptoms:
Sore throat
Difficulty in swallowing
Swollen and red tonsils
Fever
গলার lymph nodes ফুলে যাওয়া
শিশুদের ক্ষেত্রে irritability ও খাবার না খাওয়ার প্রবণতা দেখা যায়।
Treatment:
Viral tonsillitis হলে সাধারণত শুধু symptomatic treatment দরকার হয়, যেমন gargle with warm salt water, paracetamol বা pain relievers।
Bacterial tonsillitis হলে doctor সাধারণত antibiotics দেন, যেমন Penicillin বা Amoxicillin।
কিছু ক্ষেত্রে, frequent recurrence হলে টনসিল অপারেশন (Tonsillectomy) করার পরামর্শ দেওয়া হয়।
