That Unforgettable Day Along the Lane of Memories
Â
I was a student of Class 8 back then. The world was still a vast treasure of wonder to meâfilled with books, friends, dreams, and endless possibilities. Yet among all those days, one particular moment remains etched in my memory, untouched by the dust of time.
That day, our school was distributing the final examination result cards. Sir handed me mine, and with a mix of excitement and nervous anticipation, I ran my eyes across the marks. And in the very next moment, it felt as if lightning struck my chestâ
Only 23 in Mathematics!
My vision blurred. Never in my life had I seen such a low score beside my name. It felt as though someone had quietly taken away all the strength from my shoulders. Around me, my classmates chatted and laughed, but their voices seemed like distant echoes.
My whole world had narrowed down to one numberâ23.
The thought of going home made my throat dry. My father was a strict manâstern in his discipline and quick to anger. Returning home with 23 marks in Math felt like walking into an unpredictable storm.
And yet, somewhere deep inside, a faint spark still glowedâ
âNoâĻ this cannot be my score. I answered the exam really well.â
That tiny spark gave me courage.
The next day, I gathered all my strength and approached my Math teacher. Softly, I said,
â âSir, may I check my answer script? I think there might be a mistake.â
He looked at me for a moment, then nodded and asked me to come the following day.
That night passed in a strange whirlpool of fear, hope, anxiety, and uncertainty.
At last, morning arrived. Sir handed me my answer script. With trembling hands, I flipped through the pages, and as soon as my eyes fell on the score, a burst of sunshine seemed to light up my heartâ
The marks on the answer script were 93!
It was only on the result card that the number had been mistakenly written as 23.
In an instant, my world seemed bright again. The burden in my heart melted away like morning dew. The sky looked bluer, the air felt lighter, and everything around me felt alive.
That day taught me a lesson I carry to this very momentâ
Truth may hide, but it never disappears.
And the greatest strength a person can hold
is the courage to trust oneself.
Even today, that morning stands shining in the gallery of my memoriesâ
A moment of relief,
a breath of victory,
and the first triumph of my own self-belief.
