আমাদের চোখের upper eyelid কে উপরের দিকে টেনে নিয়ে গিয়ে বন্ধ চোখকে খুলতে যে muscle টা mainly সাহায্য করে সেটা হলো – Levator Palpebrae superior.
এই muscle এর nerve supply দেয় 3rd cranial nerve অর্থাৎ, Oculomotor nerve.
এখন যদি Oculomotor nerve palsy হয়, অর্থাৎ, nerve এর মধ্যে দিয়ে impulse যেতে না পারে, তখন
Levator Palpebrae muscle চোখের upper lead কে উপরের দিকে টানতে পারবে না। এতে করে upper lead drop হয়েই থাকবে, অর্থাৎ, Ptosis হবে।
